We have much cause for celebration here at FosterCare UK recently, with our wonderful Children’s Champion Maisie securing herself an elusive spot on University of Kent’s Social Work BA degree course.
Maisie’s lifelong ambition has been to become a social worker, and for as long as we have known her over the last year of her being employed with FosterCare UK she has never shied away from letting her career goals be known. So when Maisie approached us with this course in mind, we were fully behind her.
But getting onto the course wasn’t as easy as gaining our support, with only forty students admitted places were highly coveted. Maisie faced written applications and rounds of interviews, but of course our Maisie’s passion and commitment shone through and she will be joining the three year placement in March this year.
The next three years will, no doubt, have its challenges what with Maisie retaining her full time role here as Children’s Champion while she studies. However, we are certain that there is nothing Maisie cannot achieve.
Maisie said, “This is the course I dreamed of, I have been wanting to do it since I left college and although I had the grades I didn’t have the experience. Eight years later, here I am, only now I have a wonderful team behind me supporting every step of the way.”
