GCSE exams are getting ever closer and now’s the perfect time for your Year 11 young person (or even a Year 10 pupil who wants to develop good studying habits) to start dipping into the world of revision podcasts. The advantages of these are that they are portable, often very short and can be listened to at any time.
If you’re not sure how they work, simply go to the App Store or Play Store on your phone, look at the range of free podcast apps, download 1 or 2 that take your fancy and use them to search for some of the podcasts below.
There’s the weekly GCSE English RevisionPod by Mr Forster and Mr Gallie. In the 51 episodes so far they tackle a range of texts: The Life of Pi, Romeo and Juliet, An Inspector Calls, A Christmas Carol, Jekyll and Hyde and many others. Each podcast comes with a downloadable handout, so you don’t need to worry about making notes as you listen along.
The Revise - GCSE Maths Revision podcast by Seneca Learning Revision. Every possible topic is covered: from vectors and percentages, to probability and geometry.
Science At Schools - in this 26-episode series, your host will take you through Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
GCSE and IGCSE History Revision Guides - Mr. Allsop History podcast. Mr Allsop is a YouTube star – in his 32 part podcast series he’s covered every historical topic you could ever want to revise - from the Gulf War, to Nazi Germany and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
You could also try 86 episodes of The GCSE History Revision Podcast by Mr W, specifically for the AQA paper.
Mr Hunt’s Geography Podcast - Episodes vary in length, with each one lasting no more than six minutes, which makes them ideal when you haven’t got a lot of time on your hands.
