20th September, 2022
September brings this years annual FosterTalk awards, and with it the opportunity to shine a light on the outstanding work and dedication of the UK’s foster carers, care leavers and social workers.
FosterTalk is an organisation which supports those who care, and they along with all of us at Foster Care UK believes that people who care deserve the highest recognition.
Children’s Champion, Maisie Farrant commented, “I was so overwhelmed when I heard about the nomination. I have only been in my post since January, so I really feel that it shows what a kind team that I am part of here at Foster Care UK. It is nice to be appreciated.”
Indeed, there is certainly a lot to celebrate about Maisie’s role as Children’s Champion, her focus being totally on the children, being their advocate and really getting to know them as individuals. Maisie spends her time working 1-2-1, developing life skills that can be anything from self-esteem and friendships to education.
But it’s not all business, an important part of her role is providing children with positive life experiences whether that is a big trip to the London Science Museum or simple family day’s out to the park.
Maisie continued, “it is important to me to involve not only the Foster Care UK children but also the children of the foster families. I am so passionate about what I do, I am so fortunate to have a job that I love.”
