Fostering in Chatham and Gillingham
FosterCare UK is an independent fostering agency that works with local authorities in the South East to provide vital fostering services to children and young people. Working closely with Kent county council and more locally, Medway council, we have provided new homes for those who are unable to live with their parents or families.
Are you thinking about fostering the areas of Chatham and Gillingham? Or are you looking to transfer to a new foster agency? If so we want to hear from you! We are looking for people looking to make a real difference by offering their hearts and homes to children and young people in need. No matter your circumstances, race, gender, orientation or relationship status we want you to consider fostering in East Sussex. Your support can change a life and it’s never been easier to get involved.
The first step in your journey to becoming a foster carer is to get in touch with our Kent head office – by phone or online. Once this is complete we’ll visit you in your home for a chat and to complete a Form F Assessment. This will allow us to make sure that you have everything you need to be a foster parent – including a spare room in your home for your foster child, which is vital. Once you have passed this assessment you’ll work closely with a local supervising social worker, who will be able to give you more information about the foster care application process and answer any questions you might have about taking on a fostering placement.

We’re often asked if foster parents need to already be experienced carers. The answer is no – though experience is a bonus. If you foster with us then we’ll provide training and support to make sure you have all the tools to look after your placement’s needs – we’ll help you be the best foster parent you can be. You’ll have a chance to meet with our foster carers who already provide much-needed care services. They will be able to pass on their experiences and talk with you about the process.
You will also have access to our Kent and Medway area foster care services team who will provide you with all the training and support you need – both throughout and after the application process. We don’t believe that anyone should go through the process to become a foster carer alone; something proved by our recent Ofsted report, which praised our training, support and development services for both our children in care and our carers. You are in good hands at FosterCare UK.
If you decide to foster in Chatham and Gillingham with us, then you’ll be providing an important fostering service. You’ll be providing the much-needed safety and care of a family setting for those who have lost it. To start your fostering journey, or to ask any questions you have, you can give us a call on 0844 800 1941 or complete an online application form. We look forward to hearing from you.
