About Foster Care UK

About Foster CareFoster Care UK is an independent fostering agency with offices in London, Kent and Sussex. Founded in 2007, we work with superb foster parents across the South East of England. There is always a need for more people across London and Kent who are able to provide homes for children and young people.

We put a great deal of time and effort into providing a training and development programme that ensures the constant development of the skills you have. We are not merely a service provider. We are a family and our staff and our carers work in close communication with one another. The closeness and camaraderie of our agency is the basis of the success we have with our foster placements.

The stability of our placements is such that 97% of our young people continued into further education, training or employment. Stability is a major factor in the positive outcomes for the children and young people in our care. Being able to outperform anticipated expectations is a credit to our carers.

The child is taken into care by the local authorities for a number of reasons, none of which are good. It could be the death or illness of the birth parent or parents but more often than not, it is the result of abuse, violence, and neglect.

We need fostering families in the South East because with enough carers in the area, these vulnerable children can remain living in a familiar environment, attending the same school, and maintaining contact with their friends. Their lives are in a state of chaos and being able to have some continuity can make a huge difference for them.

If you are interested in being a foster carer, the first question is whether you have a spare room. A couple of other factors are your age – are you over 25? – can you pass police and health checks? Your marital status, your race, your sexual orientation are not factors. Nor is having previous parenting experience.

If you are interested in knowing more, we are here to provide information and support on the journey to this rewarding lifestyle. The process begins with home visits and a Form F assessment. Our staff are there for you throughout the entire process.

When our fostering panel approves your application and you officially become a carer, our training and support continues. During the application process, you will get to know existing carers and hear their stories. A supervising social worker will work with you the entire time. You are never alone; you are part of team, which also includes therapeutic specialists.

We need safe homes where children in care are able to live a family life that meets their needs for security and caring. If you are resilient, open minded, and child focused, please think about becoming part of our team. If you have room in your heart and home for a young person in need, contact our friendly team today on 0844 800 1941 to discuss working with us.
