Transfer Fostering Agency

Transfer Fostering Agency with FosterCare UKFosterCare UK is interested in hearing from existing foster carers who want to transfer fostering agency. Just like any career, sometimes you just need a change and that’s when transferring between fostering services can be a good move to consider.

While you still have a passion for caring for children and young people in need of aid you might feel that you’re not getting enough support, maybe you feel you didn’t spend enough time comparing fostering agencies or maybe you’re simply moving to an area that your current agency does not work in. No matter your reason for transferring, we’d love it if you’d think about making FosterCare UK your new fostering home and become a foster carer with us.

While every foster carer has the right to change agency or fostering provider as part of the Fostering Network Transfer of Foster Carers Protocol 2012, it can still be a difficult decision. This is especially true if you currently have a child or young person in your care. You can rest assured, however, that we value the stability and quality of care provided to your foster placement as much as you do and our goal will always be not to disrupt your current placement and help you continue the positive work you have completed thus far.

The first thing you need to do if you want to change fostering agencies is to let your current agency know, in writing, about your wish to transfer. At this point, the recruiting foster agency – the agency you’re transferring to – can begin its assessment. Since you can’t be approved by two different agencies at the same time, you’ll have to wait until you’re officially deregistered from your current agency before you can be approved by the next – this will occur 28 days after your initial written notice.

If you already have a child or young person in your care, the first step will be a meeting with the placing authority – this is the local authority that placed the child or young person into care in the first place. During this meeting, we will look to reach an agreement where the child or young person can be transferred to FosterCare UK with you and discuss how we can ensure the process doesn’t disrupt your family too much.

If you don’t currently have a foster placement, the process becomes a little easier. Once you’ve let your current agency know about your intention to resign, you can apply to us and start the application and assessment process almost as normal. Once you’ve received the approval of the foster panel you’ll then formally resign from your current agency and become part of the FosterCare UK team. You’ll be provided with a social worker to support you during this period.

Something to keep in mind is that the demographics for foster placements are similar no matter the agency you’re working with. The differences between agencies tend to lean towards the allowances, training, support and company culture offered, rather than the types of fostering placement available.

If you’d like to discuss the transfer process or start the process to transfer to us, then contact us today. You can give our professional team a call on 0844 800 1941 or send us an email using our online contact form.
