Fostering in Wandsworth
We are Foster Care UK. We are an independent fostering agency who works with local authorities – such as Wandsworth Council – to provide essential fostering services to children and young people in need. We are looking for new foster carers to open their hearts and homes and join our South London team. We’d also like to hear from already registered foster parents who are interesting in transferring to a new fostering agency. No matter your care experience we want you to think about fostering with us – you can really make a difference to children in the Wandsworth area.
We’re often asked what kind of person best fits foster care. The answer is that there isn’t one – almost anyone can foster! We don’t discriminate against age, race, gender, relationship status, LGBT or any other personal attribute. It’s more important to us that you have a good, loving heart and are willing to dedicate care, time and support to a foster placement – it’s also vital that you have a spare room in your home!
We know that applying to become a foster carer can be daunting and so we aim to make the process as easy as possible. All you need to do to start your foster care journey is contact us – either by phone or email – and state your interest in joining our team of foster carers. Once you’ve got in touch we’ll visit you in your home to complete a Form F Assessment. This allows us to meet you and your family to ascertain that you have everything you need to be a great foster parent. This includes the vital spare room that will provide your foster child or young person with much needed security and personal space.

Once you’ve passed this assessment you’ll work with a local social worker who will support you and offer advice and information throughout the remainder of your application process. You will also be supported by our South London team who will be able to answer any questions you might have as well as offer training and education on fostering skills; we don’t think anyone should have to go through the process alone.
If you’ve already considered becoming a foster carer in the past, but thought you didn’t have the time, due to existing jobs or life commitments, we want you to reconsider. Fostering is far more flexible than you think. Depending on the age of your foster placement, you can combine care with the care of your own child or continue your career as normal while they continue with their education. As a foster carer you will also be eligible to receive a maintenance allowance – which will help pay for the costs of caring for your foster placement.
If you decide to register with Foster Care UK and become a foster parent you will be offering an incredible service to children and young people in the Wandsworth area. If you would like to find out more about the process, or would like to start your fostering journey, we urge you to contact us. You can do this either by phone on 020 8226 6654 or through our online enquiry form. We look forward to hearing from you.
