Our Approach to Fostering

FosterCare UK was founded in 2007 by a group of individuals who had been working together in the independent fostering sector for a significant amount of time.

Today, we continue to respond to the growing demand to provide a local, supportive fostering service as well as investing in our service provision to ensure unrivalled support and supervision for foster parents.

We enjoy our work and are passionate about the importance of foster care in making a real difference to children and young people’s lives. We’re more than a service provider; we’re a community, a family. We work closely with all of our staff to provide a nurturing, inspiring, but ultimately, fun environment.

Our service is managed and coordinated to ensure the promotion of secure, safe and stable fostering placements in line with the Every Child Matters outcomes agenda.

At FosterCare UK we aim to recruit foster carers who have proven themselves to be resilient, open minded and child focused. Throughout their time with us we invest in a training and development programme that ensures skills are continually built upon.

The happy and fulfilled foster carers and children we work with speak for themselves but the facts and figures back us up too.

At FosterCare UK we are immensely proud that 97% of our foster placements do not breakdown. We know that this stability for the children we foster is a major factor in how they grow and thrive, as well as the satisfaction our foster carers gain from the experience.

What’s more, children fostered through FosterCare UK stay in education longer and fare better than expected given their circumstances.

We are also very proud that 97% of our young people of school-leaving age either went into further education, training or employment.

We achieve these tremendous outcomes in many ways, not least the dedication and commitment of our registered manager who monitors educational attainment on a monthly basis and ensures that educational support is provided where a need is identified.  We also provide access to an educational psychologist and speech and language therapist to support the educational needs of children and young people within our care.

In addition to this, we have created our own specialist multi-disciplinary assessment & treatment team of experts led by a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist. Where critical help and support is needed, our Therapeutic Fostering team has the skills and expertise to work with our children and young people to achieve genuine positive outcomes. It is this level of support to both our foster carers and looked-after children that transforms a life and will truly make a difference.

Even though we are already achieving amazing results, we never presume that we can’t make improvements; we’re always challenging ourselves by looking at new ways to make the fostering experience even better for children and young people and even more rewarding for our foster carers.
